Maghreb Minerals (AIM: MMS), the base metal and industrial minerals exploration company announced ‘significant zinc and lead’ assay results from a Phase 2 infill and step out drilling programme at the Gite de l'Est deposit, Bou Jabeur, Tunisia.
Assay results from the drill program generated several noteworthy advances for the project.
First, infill drilling confirmed the continuity of the mineralisation across previous gaps in the historical drill data. Second, assays confirmed solid zinc-lead mineralisation at depths between 50 metres and 120 metres – expanding the depth of the ore body. Third, the deeper mineralisation also returned higher grades, including an impressive 46.25 metres with a combined zinc and lead grade of 10.84%, which included smaller intersects with combined grades exceeding 20%.
Phase 2 drilling will continue until the end of this month, after which all of the new data will be incorporated into an upgraded resource estimate and a scoping study.
“The work programme on the Gite de l'Est deposit outlined in June/July 2007, has produced exciting results giving the Board increased confidence of a viable mining project. The Scoping Study should go some way to confirming this. The remaining part of the ongoing Phase 2 drilling where sampling and assay results are awaited, has indicated significant deeper mineralisation which adds considerable upside potential to the value of the deposits” summarised Maghreb’s Chairman, Gordon Riddler.
