Variscan Mines (ASX:VAR) is in the process of evaluating a secondary listing on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange due to significant European interest.
The company board considers an AIM listing attractive due to access to European and U.K. capital markets, proximity to France projects, enhanced liquidity and diversified shareholder base.
As part of this strategy Variscan has appointed Stewart Dickson to the board and as CEO.
Dickson is an experienced corporate financier with a decade of investment banking experience, most recently, he was a managing director and head of metals and mining at Cantor Fitzgerald Europe.
Pat Elliott, chairman, commented: “These changes are part of a natural progression for Variscan Mines to access capital in a market with a greater affinity with French mineral assets.”
Greg Jones, Variscan’s managing director since 2009, has been appointed as executive technical director.
His continued role with the company will ensure the retention of essential corporate and technical skills and intellectual property that he has acquired since he joined Variscan.
Variscan is currently completing a 1,300 metre drill program at its flagship St Pierre gold project located in France.
Assays from completed holes are expected shortly.
