DroneShield sells drone jammer for use by a major military

The sale comes as ISIS increases the use of drones for terrorism.

DroneShield (ASX:DRO) has achieved the first sale of its DroneGun tactical drone jammer for use by a major military by selling it to the military of a G7 country via its distributor.

The DroneGun provides a safe countermeasure against a wide range of drone models, allowing a controlled management of drone payload such as explosives.

While the sale involved only one test unit and hence the revenue from the sale is not material, the sale is important in that this is the first sale of DroneGun to the military of a G7 country.

The DroneGun will be deployed for testing in the Middle East.

The sale comes as ISIS and other non-state actors rapidly increase their use of consumer/commercial drones for terrorism.

DroneShield made the sale to its distributor Zariba Security, consistent with the company’s strategy of relying on its distributors.

The sale illustrates the increased need for drone security systems globally and the increased acceptance of DroneShield as a leader in the industry.

In February, DroneShield achieved a breakthrough by selling its DroneGun tactical drone jammer to the Ministry of Defence of a Middle Eastern country.

The test unit was purchased at the full rate price, with a potential follow up order on a large scale to provide that country’s military with counter-drone capability.

DroneShield’s share price increased by 25% since the start of 2017, last trading at $0.35.
