Vital Metals (ASX:VML) has commenced a 100 hole, 12,500 metre reverse circulation drilling program at its 100%-owned Kollo Gold Project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
The first holes will test extensions of the high-grade, near-surface mineralisation and newly identified gold mineralisation.
This positions the company well to deliver news flow from exploration activities in Burkina Faso going forward.
Mark Strizek, managing director, commented: “It is very pleasing to get drilling operations underway at Kollo. We have excellent grades from previous drilling at Kollo and will be looking to build on these.
“We will be testing depth extensions of high grade mineralisation at targets like Kollo Hill, which has never been drilled and is book-ended by gold mineralisation.”
Burkina Faso
Vital’s 100% owned 400 square kilometre Doulnia Gold Project is located in southern Burkina Faso.
It comprises the Doulnia, Kampala and Zeko exploration permits, which host a number of prospects, targets and smaller projects.
The most advanced target is the Kollo Gold Project, where a 60 hole reverse circulation program was recently completed.
Kollo is located on the highly prospective Markoye Fault Corridor which hosts West African Resources’ (ASX:WAF) high grade 2.2 million ounce Sanbrado Gold Project.
Auger drilling program
Alongside the reverse circulation drilling, the auger exploration program continues working on infill drilling and regional testing.
The auger program is beginning to delineate multiple targets over 40 kilometres of largely untested structural corridors.
To date, a total of 2,091 auger holes have been drilled for 8,177 metres of which 1,400 holes have been sampled and assayed.
The aggressive program of regional auger drill testing will continue.
