Day ahead: McCarthy & Stone expected to report subdued performance

The market will be interested on comments about margins and incentives costs

It’s barely a month since retirement homes builder McCarthy & Stone PLC issued a trading update, so the interims should contain few surprises.

The company said trading conditions in the six months to the end of February had remained stable, with sales lead indicators up year-on-year.

On the other hand, trading had been constrained by the lower forward order book carried over from the previous financial year, as a result of which half-year revenue is expected to have dipped to around £238mln from £250mln the year before.

“Guidance news on the 3,000 volume target by 2019 will be closely watched, as will comments about margins and incentives costs,” suggested Peel Hunt.

Significant announcements expected

Interims: McCarthy & Stone PLC (LON:MCS), IMI PLC (LON:IMI)

Finals: Learning Technologies Group (LON:LTG); HSS Hire Grp Plc (LON:HSS)
