Oil giant Shell hires Brave Bison to “evolve” its YouTube channel

Shell will tap into Brave Bison’s social media knowledge to help maximise engagement on its YouTube channel

Shares in Brave Bison Group PLC (LON:BBSN) soared on Monday morning after it was hired by Shell International to “evolve” the oil giant’s YouTube strategy and channel management.

Essentially, Shell is using Brave Bison’s experience in the world of social media to help it maximise engagement on the popular video sharing platform.

The tie-up makes Brave Bison the first company the oil firm has ever hired to work directly on the strategic positioning and management of its YouTube channel.

“We are delighted to be working with Shell on what is a really exciting project,” said Brave Bison chief operating officer Kevin Deeley.

“The goal is to create a 'go to' platform for all things energy related that not only provides content and information that is compelling and relevant, but better reflects what Shell stands for.”

The company said it will work with Shell’s internal teams to ‘maximise the potential’ of its YouTube channel and make sure the messages put out on social media are aligned to its communications strategy.

Brave Bison said it will provide “expert” management as it pushes out various research and insight pieces to Shell’s 60,000+ subscribers.

Shares in Brave Bison were up 7% to 1.2p in early deals.
