Gfinity Plc (LON:GFIN) said award-winning football video game, 'Rocket League', will feature in its Elite Series eSports tournament.
The UK-based company said 'Rocket League' will be played in teams of three against three at the competition for video game enthusiasts, which will be launched later this year.
The addition of 'Rocket League' follows the announcement earlier this month that the Elite Series will include 'Counter-Strike: Global Offensive' and 'Street Fighter V' video games.
The company has today opened registration to sign up to competitions in the three games.
Chief executive, Neville Upton, said: "Gfinity has always been about the gamers and the signing of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Street Fighter V and Rocket League will guarantee the very best action and entertainment for those playing and watching the Elite Series.”
Gfinity expects the tournament will attract a number of eSport fans and competitive gamers to generate sponsorship and broadcasting rights for the company.
The event will begin with the Challenger series, where amateur gamers compete against one another to earn ranking points to qualify for the Gfinity Elite Draft.
On Thursday the company announced it had signed up technology giant HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) as the first official partner of the series.
As the official hardware partner of the event – which runs for ten weeks starting in June – the OMEN by HP range of gaming PCs, laptops and other hardware will be integrated throughout.
Shares gained 5.36% to 16.99p in afternoon trading.
