Independent Oil and Gas Plc (LON:IOG) has told investors it is appointing former Sound Energy executive Andrew Hockey as its new deputy chief executive.
IOG - not to be confused with Independent Resources plc (LON:IRG), a separate company which happens to have taken on current Sound Energy executives and is relaunching as Echo Energy - is pursuing the development of a number of field developments in the North Sea.
The North Sea oil junior also announced further appointments including former Bayfield Energy chief executive Hywel John joining as the new chief financial officer.
The Right Honourable Charles Hendry, formerly Minister of State for Energy (between May 2010 and September 2012), joins the board as non-executive director and as nominee of major shareholder London Oil & Gas Limited.
IOG has also hired Graham Cox as project manager for the group’s assets in the Southern North Sea.
David Peattie has resigned from his position on the board, following his appointment as chief executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Peter Young also exits the board, taking a new position at IOG, as the new head of business origination, and present chief executive Mark Routh moves over to become the new interim chairman.
Routh highlights that IOG is now entering its ‘next phase of growth’ and said that the new appointments “positions IOG strongly for the future”.
“Charles, Andrew, Hywel and Graham all have outstanding track records and deep sector knowledge and it reflects the inherent strength of our business and excellent portfolio of assets that we can attract individuals of their calibre,” Routh said.
He added: "Andrew successfully led the development of Clipper South, a successful SNS producing gas field which we believe has certain similarities in discovery, geology and production to IOG's Vulcan satellites development.
“His operational and development execution capabilities will be of huge benefit to the company.
“Graham worked alongside Andrew at Clipper South and we are excited to be welcoming him to the operational team.”
