Logistics firm Wincanton PLC (LON:WIN) has secured a five-year contract with wilko to manage all of the retailer’s UK transport operations.
Wincanton said it will make at least 100,000 deliveries as part of the deal, while it would also help wilko to “transform its supply chain”.
Chippenham-based Wincanton will take care of everything from store replenishment to yard management and backhaul.
The group’s maintenance arm, Pullman Fleet Services, will also run two workshops to service wilko’s fleet of lorries and maximise vehicle availability.
“We are looking forward to developing a new and exciting partnership with the successful high street retailer wilko,” said chief executive Adrian Colman.
“We have a long history of excellent service in the retail sector and this contract further builds upon our expertise and experience to deliver a best-in-class supply chain that meets the increasingly complex demands of consumers.”
Shares in Wincanton were down 0.6%, or 1.8p, to 273p in early deals on Thursday.
