Gfinity reveals Streetfighter V as second title to feature in its upcoming video gaming Elite Series

The Elite Series, first announced in November 2016, is a dynamic new eSports league format platform to play and watch games in a fiercely competitive environment

eSports group Gfinity Plc (LON:GFIN) has announced that Street Fighter V, one of the most successful fighting video game titles, will be the second game to feature in its Elite Series, launching later this year.

Neville Upton, Gfinity’s chief executive officer, said: "Street Fighter is one of the most iconic brands in the video gaming industry, with a passionate global community of fans.

“We look forward to welcoming them to the Elite Series, a tournament that we believe will have a big impact on eSports in the UK."

On Monday, the AIM-listed firm revealed that popular video game Counter Strike: Global Offensive would be the first title to form part of the new Challenger Series league, which will be the first stage of the Elite Series.

The Elite Series, first announced in November 2016, is a dynamic new eSports league format platform to play and watch games in a fiercely competitive environment on www.gfinityesports.com.

The Challenger Series, which is expected to launch on March 27, will see gamers compete in a series of online competitions to determine who will be selected to play in the Gfinity Arena in the Elite Series, which is expected to be launched in May this year.

Gfinity shares held steady in early afternoon trading at 14.75p.
