BATM enjoys strong second half

Revenues for the year to December 31 will be "slightly more than US$90mln", BATM said in a trading statement ahead of its prelims on March 8.

BATM Advanced Communications Limited (LON:BVC) said the momentum seen in the first-half of 2016 had continued into the second with the biomedical division now accounting for 57% of turnover.

Revenues for the year to December 31 will be "slightly more than US$90mln", BATM said in a trading statement ahead of its prelims on March 8.

The telecom networks and medical lab systems group said underlying earnings (EBITDA) in the second half will be significantly ahead of the first.

New business has been strong with a number of contract wins, although some will fall outside the year to December 31.

A case in point is the delay in delivery of a contract by the cyber business that was out of BATM's control.

Completion will now occur in the first quarter with the value of the deal amended upwards to US$5.2mln from US$4.5mln previously.

BATM said it "remains optimistic in its outlook due to the visibility of revenues from contracts already signed".

The growth of the bio-medical division, meanwhile, is expected to accelerate.

This follows investment in the Adaltis medical diagnostics operation by BATM's Chinese joint venture partner that will "further enhance" an already growing business.

Mid-afternoon, the shares were steady at 19.53p each.

City broker finnCap adjusted its figures to take account of the contract delays.

It reckons revenues will be "some US$14m short of our expectations...and EBITDA will be nearer US$2.5m, broadly in line with last year’s earnings".
