Shares in biotechnology group ValiRx Plc (LON:VAL) rose today as it announced it has been published in two peer-reviewed journal articles for its work in developing cancer treatment.
The articles examine drug reprofiling in oncology and the progress of the company's novel cancer drug, VAL401, in clinical efficacy trials for the treatment of lung cancer and other areas of oncology.
The first article, ‘A Chemical Genomics Approach to Drug Reprofiling in Oncology: Antipsychotic Drug Risperidone as a Potential Adenocarcinoma Treatment’, has been accepted for publication in Cancer Letters, Volume 393. The piece is co-written by chief executive of ValiRx arm Valiseek, Dr Suzy Dilly, and Professor Paul Taylor from the University of Leeds. It details the experimental processes that led to the formulation of VAL401.
The second article, 'Pimping up Drugs Recovered, Superannuated and Under Exploited Drugs - An Introduction to the Basics of Drug Reprofiling', was published in Bentham Science and was written by chief operation officer of ValiRx, Dr George Morris, and Dr Suzy Dilly. The article explores examples of success in reprofiling, draws comparisons between techniques and provides two examples from the ValiRx development pipeline.
Shares rose 5.81% to 4.10p in afternoon trade.
