Seeing Machines picks up large contract with US logistics group

ShamrockFoods is to fit all of its 750 heavy vehicles with a fatigue monitoring system

Seeing Machines Ltd (LON:SEE) has picked up a new contract for its Guardian in-cab driver fatigue monitoring service from Shamrock Foods, a distributor of fresh goods in the south west of the US.

Following a 12-months assessment, Shamrock is to fit all of its 750 heavy vehicles with the Guardian System.

At one time, Seeing Machines generated revenues from sales to the mining sector but has now licensed the mining IP to Caterpillar and focused on longer term monitoring contracts with commercial lorry fleets, where customers here are billed on a per-truck, monthly basis.

Chris Cushing, operations technology manager at Shamrock said: "Shamrock Foods Company has always embraced change and the introduction of technology. In the case of in vehicle driver monitoring technology, we considered a number of different systems, but in the end, we felt the Guardian System provided the best solution for us.

“The differentiator with the other systems is the fact that Guardian is able to help us detect and prevent fatigue and distraction before it occurs, ensuring that we get our drivers home safely every shift. Having the SafeGuard Centre located close by in Tucson Arizona is another source of comfort for us."

Shares rose 5% to 4.45p.
