Savannah Resources Plc (LON:SAV) has received encouragement from exploration at both of its flagship projects.
At the Matumba mineral sands joint venture in Mozambique, drilling by Savannah has confirmed a second high grade mineralisation zone at Ravene.
Partner Rio Tinto drilled the target initially but the new holes drilled by Savannah returned grades in a range of 6.5% to 10.5% over widths of 36m to 12m from the surface, confirming the continuity said David Archer, Savannah’s managing director.
“The Ravene deposit main zone shows very good continuity with thick sections of high grades in a 3.5km long zone and up to 1.5km wide.
“The programme was successfully planned and executed to more precisely define the high grade zones of THM [total heavy mineral] at the Ravene deposit, which we believe could increase the current global Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource inventory of 3.5 billion tonnes at 3.8% THM at the Mutamba Project North.”

The results will be included in an updated resources estimate for the Matumba North section of the project and the upcoming scoping study.
Meanwhile in Oman, electromagnetic surveys have indicated potential extensions at depth to the massive sulphide copper mineralisation at the Lasail and Mahab 4 targets.
Nothing showed up at Bayda, Zuha and Sarami East, though Bayda has potential as a large low grade, high tonnage target said Archer.
The collapse of the key hole at the Dog's Bone target meant the EM survey could not be completed, but drilling identified a 6.1m zone of 6.8% zinc, 1.4g/t gold and 84g/t silver.
Archer said was encouraged by the exploration results at Block 4 and 5 in Oman and the potential extensions of both the Lasail and Mahab 4.
