Mining group Arianne Phosphate Inc (OTCMKTS:DRRSF) (TSX-V:DAN) has secured an agreement with the Quebec government for an additional power bloc to support its Lac à Paul phosphate mine.
An extra power bloc of 14 megawatts (MW) from Hydro-Quebec will be made available to the mine’s ore processing facilities, increasing its total to 129MW.
“With this additional power bloc, Arianne will be able to supply all of its processing facilities with hydroelectric power, making it the apatite concentrate producer with the lowest greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on the market,” the company said in a statement.
The power will be used for the electric dryer on apatite concentrate. The technology of the dryer prevents about 86,000 metric tonnes per year of co2 emissions.
Arianne said the agreement also have a positive economic impact on the Lac à Paul project, based in Quebec's Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
