Verizon snatches Apple’s creative chieftain

US telecoms group Verizon Communications, currently in the midst of trying to buy Yahoo! assets, said on Monday that it snared Apple’s global creative director to lead its newly-built in-house advertising agency

US telecoms group Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), currently in the midst of trying to buy Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) assets, said on Monday that it snared Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) global creative director to lead its newly-built in-house advertising agency.

Andrew McKechnie will “assume leadership of Verizon’s in-house team with the goal of building out creative capabilities and bringing the company’s brand vision to life”.

A month ago, Verizon was rumoured to want to buy Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR). Meanwhile, Verizon, which already owns AOL Online, agreed to buy Yahoo’s advertising, content, search and mobile activities last July. The deal has been crawling along after Yahoo had to clean up embarrassment over a hacking of its servers.
