Carnival is increasing cruises to Cuba

Carnival Corporation (LON:CCL) (NYSE:CCL) has been given the green light to sail its largest cruise ship to Cuba from the US, the company announced on Tuesday.

The group will begin sailing its Carnival Cruise Line brand to Cuba in June 2017 to help meet strong demand from US travellers to the Caribbean island nation.

Carnival Cruise Line plans to deploy the Carnival Paradise ship, which has a capacity for 2,052 passengers, for a series of four- and five-day voyages from Port Tampa Bay in Florida to Havana, Cuba.

Carnival has already been sailing to Cuba with its Fathom brand since May 2016, when it became the first US cruise company to enter the nation in more than 40 years.

Cuba has seen an influx of US travellers after the country lifted its travel restrictions on Americans in 2015.
