Variscan Mines drills along strike from France's third largest gold mine

Previous sampling recorded rock chips up to 21.5g/t gold.

Variscan Mines (ASX:VAR) has now commenced a 16 hole reverse circulation drilling program which will cover 1000 metres at the St Pierre gold project in France.

Drilling will test the Belleville prospect, a 900 x 400 metre bedrock gold anomaly where previous sampling recorded rock chips up to 21.5g/t gold and soil values up to 2.4g/t gold.

Also planned are two core holes at the Ville Tirard prospect where historic drilling is reported to have intersected thick zones of near-surface gold mineralisation with grades averaging around 3-4g/t gold.

Variscan will be drilling along strike from France's third largest gold mine.

Both prospects are situated within the St Pierre licence, which surrounds the historic La Bellière gold mine which produced 334,000 ounces at 12 g/t gold.
