Corero off to fast start in 2017 with contract win; Redx Pharma unveils plans to raise up to £14.9mln; Faron Pharma is ‘excited’ for the coming year; plus much more…

Corero Network Security (LON:CNS) has got off to a fast start in 2017, bagging a US$1mln order from a leading cloud-computing company.

A major chunk of the revenue from the contract, which was won following a proof of concept trial, will be recognised in the current year.

The company also revealed it has entered into a technology alliance partnership with Juniper Networks, a US-based multi-national company that develops and markets networking and security products.

Elsewhere, Redx Pharma Plc (LON:REDX) has unveiled plans to raise up to £14.9mln that will be used to develop two promising pre-clinical drug candidates.

The bulk of the money will come from a £12mln placing of stock with professional investors.

As part of that institutional round finance house Lanstead Capital is subscribing for shares worth around £4.3mln and will feed back the majority of the proceeds in monthly instalments.

Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd (LON:FARN) is gearing up for the completion of a final phase clinical trial of its lead product later this year.

Faron believes its drug, Traumakine, could revolutionise the intensive care treatment for patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) – a lung condition that currently has a high death rate.

The company said it remains on course for a first ‘read-out’ from the European phase III INTEREST study in the second half.

In other news, LGO Energy PLC (LON:LGO) intends to re-apply for the production licence at the Ayoluengo Field in northern Spain.

The field was operated by its subsidiary Compañía Petrolífera de Sedano (CPS) until the termination of La Lora Concession on 31 January.

LGO said it may apply on its own or in a partnership for a new 30-year permit.
