Proactive news summary: Keywords confirms sparkling 2016

Also featured: Allergy Therapeutics, DP Poland, Eckoh, Harvest Minerals, Metal Tiger, Scotgold Resources, Sound Energy

Keywords Studios PLC (LON:KWS) told investors back in November it expected to beat forecasts and post a full-year profit before tax of at least €14mln, and the early signs suggest it will be even better.

The company – which provides services to the video games industry – has announced a preliminary, unaudited adjusted pre-tax profit of €14.8mln for the year ended 31 December 2016, on revenues of €96.6mln (also unaudited).

Scotgold Resources Limited (LON:SGZ) had some good news for investors on Wednesday afternoon after revealing it has been granted permission to extend the bulk processing trial at its Cononish mine.

The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Planning Authority accepted the Scottish gold miner’s application to extend operations to March 2018.

The original permission ran for nine months and was due to finish in a few weeks' time at the end of February.

Harvest Minerals Ltd. (LON:HMI) narrowed its losses in the final six months of 2016 ahead of what its chief executive, Brian McMasterman, hopes will be a ‘ripper year’ for the Brazil-focused potash explorer.

The firm booked a pre-tax loss of US$1.43mln for the six months to 31 December 2016, compared to the US$1.53mln loss it recorded for the same period in 2015.

During the period, Harvest made significant headway at its Arapua fertilizer project.

Metal Tiger PLC (LON:MTR) said it is on the same page as MOD Resources Ltd (ASX:MOD) after upping its stake a little in the Aussie firm.

The resources sector investor has converted 29.17mln warrants into an equivalent number of MOD shares at one cent a pop, at a total cost of £178,937 (A$291,667).

The exercise lifts Metal Tiger’s stake to 5.01% of MOD, its 30/70 joint venture (JV) partner in the Kalahari copper belt.

Elsewhere in the resources sector, Sound Energy PLC (LON:SOU) has issued shares in part payment to the rig company drilling its Badile gas well in Italy.

The contractor, a firm called Pergemine, agreed to receive €1mln of its fee in equity. Around €790,000 has now been issued at a price of 82p a share.

Allergic disorders specialist Allergy Therapeutics plc (LON:AGY) has announced a change of non-executive directors on the board.

Jean-Yves Pavee retired from the board last night and has been replaced by Jeff Barton, who has been nominated by Abbott Laboratories.

Barton currently serves as vice president of licensing and acquisitions at Abbott.

DP Poland Plc (LON:DPP) saw like-for-like system sales rose by 27% through 2016.

The Domino’s Pizza franchiser added that total system sales were up 62% in 2016 compared to the year before, and it marks seventeen consecutive quarters of double digit percentage growth.

Secure payments specialist Eckoh PLC (LON:ECK) has added the capability to take a secure payment directly via live web chat, the first Level 1 service provider to do it claims.

Live Chat is a booming segment of online shopping and allows consumers immediate access to information about products and services while they are browsing a website.

Eckoh’s development means a consumer can now place an order within the chat session rather than having to be re-directed to another channel to complete their purchase such as email or a messaging app.

Card-not-present fraud is the fastest growing form of credit card fraud globally and totalled nearly £400mln in 2015.
