New non-exec appointment strengthen ties between Seeing Machines and Caterpillar

Tim Crane is the general manager at Caterpillar’s marketing and digital division and will join the board immediately

Seeing Machines Limited (LON:SEE) has strengthened its ties with machinery and engineering giant Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT) with its latest board appointment.

Tim Crane – general manager at Cat Services’ marketing and digital division – will join Seeing Machines’ board as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Seeing Machines' managing director, Ken Kroeger said: "We have been working with Tim at a strategic level within Caterpillar for several years, structuring our commercial relationship and executing the DSS business.

“Tim's understanding of our technology, industries and opportunities will see him add significant value to the Seeing Machines' board.”

Seeing Machines and the US digger giant have been working together for a while now, and have a licensing agreement in place.

AIM-listed Seeing Machines has developed an in-cab system that monitors the alertness of drivers of these giant mining vehicles and the tie-up that allows Caterpillar to offer the Driver Safety System (DSS) as an option to buyers.

In the year to June 2016, that deal was responsible for A$21.8mln of turnover out of Seeing Machines’ total of A$33.6mln.

Shares were down slightly to 3.85p.
