Markets and Theresa May eagerly await Supreme Court’s Brexit decision

Vote or no vote? The Supreme Court will tell us whether Theresa May can trigger Brexit alone.

We don’t really know whether we’re getting a hard Brexit or a soft Brexit, but, tomorrow Theresa May will find if it is going to easy or (slightly more) difficult to trigger Britain’s exit from the European Union.

On Tuesday morning, at around 9:30am, the Prime Minister will hear the landmark judgement from the UK Supreme Court which will say whether May can trigger Brexit – by invoking article 50 - without putting it to a parliamentary vote.

If the court says a parliamentary vote is necessary it will add another layer of uncertainty and more second-guessing for markets.

In the City retail will again be in focus with Dixons Carphone (LON:DC.) releasing a trading update, meanwhile, natural resources are also going to be in the spotlight with BHP Billiton also reporting.

Tuesday’s agenda

Interim Results

PZ Cussons PLC (LON:PZC), IG Group Holdings PLC (LON:IGG).

Final Results

Blue Prism Group Plc (LON:PRSM), Lakehouse Plc (LON:LAKE).

Trading Statement

Genel Energy PLC (LON:GENL), easyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), Dixons Carphone (LON:DC.), BHP Billiton plc (LON:BLT).
