ResApp Health extends partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital

ResApp Health (ASX:RAP) has entered into a two-year expanded research collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, U.S.

The expanded collaboration is alongside MGH’s current participation in ResApp’s SMARTCOUGH-C study.

SMARTCOUGH-C is a study that is evaluating the efficacy of the ResAppDx software application in the diagnosis of childhood pneumonia and other respiratory conditions from cough sounds.

ResApp has developed a smartphone app that works by using algorithms to analyse the sound of a patient’s cough and provide a diagnosis.

Working together, ResApp and MGH will perform additional analysis of the SMARTCOUGH-C study data and evaluate the efficacy of ResApp’s cough-based diagnostic test in additional respiratory disease indications.

Worldwide, pneumonia is the leading cause of death of children under 5 years of age and is the most common reason for U.S. children to be hospitalised.

Today, respiratory disease diagnosis is based on a combination of auscultation, imaging and laboratory tests.

An instant, accurate diagnostic test delivered via a smartphone could greatly improve patient management, expand access to healthcare and reduce costs.

ResApp’s share price has increased by about 9% during the past one month, last trading at $0.360.
