eSports promoter Gfinity Plc (LON:GFIN) has been selected by computer and gaming giant Microsoft to be its event partner for part of the upcoming Halo World Championship 2017.
Gfinity will host the online qualifiers for the European and Latin American part of the tournament towards the end of January.
The firm will then hold two open local area network (LAN) events in London and Mexico City in February to determine which gamers go through to the finals, which have a prize pool of US$1mln.
This is Gfinity’s latest tie-up with Microsoft after the two recently teamed up to host several events as part of the Gears of War eSports Pro Circuit this season.
“As we continue to cement Gfinity's reputation within the thriving eSports industry, Microsoft's continued commitment to work with Gfinity is further testament to our team's world-class capability to deliver the best experiences for title holders and fans,” said chief executive Neville Upton.
Halo is a popular first-person shooter video game series that centres on an interstellar war between humans and aliens.
Shares were slightly lower at 13.1p in early deals on Monday morning.
