Bushveld Minerals (LON:BMN) is making good progress to secure funds to acquire the Vametco vanadium plant in South Africa, chief executive Fortune Mojapelo reported.
The deal to buy Vametco owner Strategic Minerals Corporation, from Russian mining giant Evraz Group, was unveiled in April this year.
Bushveld is to pay Evraz US$16.4mln in two tranches for a 78.8% stake.
Work since then has been focused on regulatory approvals and funding, which will likely be structured through a combination of debt and equity.
"I am equally pleased with the progress in developing the energy platform, Bushveld Energy," said Mojapelo.
“The MoU signed with UET provides us with access to advanced technologies and a deep knowledge base in the manufacture of VFRBs [vanadium batteries].”
Bushveld yesterday also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for its Mokopane tin project with South African group VBKom.
Losses in the half year to August were £33,000 (£864,000). Since the half year, Bushveld has raised £1.33mln.
