There’s a relatively stacked diary of corporate updates set for Thursday, whether investors will be able to turn away from the political soap-opera over in the United States will remain to be seen.
Interim results from pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca Plc (LON:AZN) will no doubt find some spotlight, especially as its was among the notable Wednesday’s notable risers.
Astra shares closed out Wednesday 2%, 92p, higher changing hands at £45.43, and had traded as high as £47.19 at one point.
It follows a months of weakness in sentiment around the pharmaceutical sector, due to expectations that Hillary Clinton would clamp down on drug pricing had she won.
Investors in Astra will no doubt be glad to focus again on the company and its own prospects, rather than political uncertainty.
The key focal points will be on sales and the financial metrics, as well as the clinical pipelines and the outlook for international markets.
