Strategic Minerals PLC (LON:SML) has brought on board an experienced consultant to help it progress its Cornish tungsten mining ambitions.
In May, Strategic announced an option with New Age Exploration Limited (ASX: NAE) to take up to 50% of the Redmoor tin and tungsten project in the west of the UK.
As it stands it now holds 16.4% of Redmoor's capital.
Now it has struck a deal with mining expert and Cornish resident Jeffrey Harrison to be community advisor for the project.
He will represent the joint venture in engaging with the local community and in progressing land access for the planned drilling programme earmarked for the first half of 2017.
Harrison was operations manager for nearby Wolf Minerals (LON:WLF), whose Drakelands mine in Devon was commissioned last year.
Drakelands lies 40km from the Redmoor site.
John Peters, managing director of Strategic, said: " The appointment, coupled with the company's recent oversubscribed share issue, sees the company in a good position to exercise its option over a further 33.6% of shares in Redmoor and, hence, provide the funds required to undertake the planed drilling programme scheduled for the first half of 2017."
