European Lithium Ltd (ASX:EUR, FRA:PF8) has delivered high-grade lithium from channel sampling of underground pegmatite veins at its wholly-owned Wolfsberg Project in Austria.
The channel sampling results showed high grade lithium mineralisation in veins hosted in the amphibolite.
The average grade of the 40 channel samples for Vein 2.1 over a sampled strike length of 140 metres was 1.80% Li2O and the average vein width of the samples was 1.74 metres.
Vein 3.1, also hosted in amphibolite, was similar over a sampled strike length of 145 metres where the average grade of the 40 channel samples was 1.82% Li2O and the average vein width was 2.19 metres.
The company said the sampled strike length of Vein 7 in mica schist was shorter at 40 metres because of access restrictions with 9 channel samples that had an average grade of 1.31% Li2O and an average vein width of 2.49 metres.
These results support the Minerex conclusion that the pegmatites hosted in amphibolite are of appreciably higher lithium grade than that of the pegmatites hosted in mica schist.
Background
European Lithium, previously named Paynes Find Gold Ltd, relisted on the ASX during September after acquiring the Wolfsberg Lithium Project.
Wolfsberg has a JORC compliant inferred resource of 3.7 million tonnes at 1.5% lithium oxide.
The project has had 17,000 metres of drilling and 1,400 metres of declines, drives and crosscuts completed and installed by previous owners.
This previous work will allow the company to examine routes to fast track the development phase.
The previous owner has spent €11.53 million on acquisition and exploration.
