Patagonia Gold plc (LON:PGD) has produced its first gold dore from the new heap leach operation at Cap Oeste in Argentina.

Full leaching capacity was realised within the first three weeks of operation, Patagonia added, with metal recovery in line with forecasts but cyanide consumption half the original estimate.

The miner has switched production to Cap Oeste after closing its Lomada heap leach operation earlier in the year and moving the equipment over.

Cap Oeste is expected to produce 82,000 oz gold equivalent over the next 24 months excluding satellite deposits such as Monte Leon and any underground development.

Carlos Miguens, chairman, said it had been a smooth transition of operations from Lomada to Cap-Oeste and the focus would now be on developing the resource base.
