Salmon appeal ruling boosts AquaBounty

Despite helpful foreign exchange rate movements, the defence firm Cobham said full-year performance would be lower than management had been expecting

AquaBounty Technologies Inc. (LON:ABTU OTC:AQBT) leapt 11% higher to 31.6p as a Canadian court of appeal upheld approval of the company’s genetically modified salmon.

Ronald Stotish, AquaBounty’s chief executive said that the approval process had been extraordinarily thorough and transparent and had now been convincingly reaffirmed in Canada's courts.

Ortac Resources PLC (LON:OTC) up 22% to 0.4p. Chairman Anthony Balme swaps some of his shares in Casa Mining for a higher stake in Ortac. Casa is now 21.25% owned by Ortac and Balme owns 10.1% of Ortac.

GoldBridges Global Resources PLC (LON:GBGR) up 16% to 1.85p. Miner is on track for 100,000 oz per year by 2019.

PLUS 500 Ltd (LON:PLUS) down 7% to 626p. New subscribers to CFD platform rose sharply, but average revenue per customer fell by 28% in the three months to September.

Angry ex-workers at Avocet Mining PLC’s (LON:AVC) Inata mine in Burkina Faso have seized 1,400 oz worth of gold in lieu of strike pay, sending its shares down 17% to 69p.

The workers, who were laid off during a strike in 2014 are claiming US$3.4mln in unpaid benefits. No more shipments from Inata are expected until the threat of seizure is lifted, which may mean it has to shut down temporarily if the disruption is prolonged.

Sunrise Resources Plc (LON:SRES) down 12% to 0.19p. Drill results from Bay State silver deposit in Nevada disappoint.

Fusionex International PLC(LON:FXI) up 16% to 203.5p. Big data software group says revenue this year will be in- line while underlying profits will significantly exceed market expectations.

Xtract Resources PLC (LON:XTR) up 8% to 0.024p. Overheads chopped at miner by £1mln while it considers capex required at Manica gold mine development.

Shares in FTSE 250 stock Cobham PLC (LON:COB) fell 13% as it issued a profit warning.

It said the SATCOM and Wireless business units in the Communications and Connectivity sector, and the Integrated Electronics Solutions business unit in the Advanced Electronics Solutions Sector had let the side down badly.

The board now anticipates that group trading profit for 2016, including favourable currency impacts, will be in the range of £255mln to £275mln.

The group's 2016 year end net debt/EBITDA (underlying earnings) gearing ratio will be around 2.6, after taking into account the updated assessment of the group's trading prospects for the full year, the company revealed.

"FY profit is now expected to be between £255mln and £275mln - the midpoint of this range is 9% lower than our estimate of £291mln," said Liberum.

"Net debt/EBITDA is now expected to be 2.6x, against our estimate of 2.2x," the broker added.

RISERS

Frontera Resources Corporation (LON:FRR), up 29%. Six new wells in the Republic of Georgia have now been prepared and will shortly receive stimulation completions in November.

Legendary Investments plc (LON:LEG), up 28%. VS, in which the company has invested, has won a significant contract.

Metminco Limited (LON:MNC), up 16%. The company has secured funding for its Los Calatos copper project.

FALLERS

Andes Energia PLC (LON:AEN), down 18%. Late on Friday afternoon the company said it knew of no reason for the sharp increase in the share price on Friday.

Avocet Mining PLC (LON:AVM), down 16%. Bailiffs acting on behalf of laid-off workers of the Inata gold mine seized around 1,400 ounces of gold from the mine earlier this month.
