Embattled sportswear group Sports Direct PLC (LON:SPD) has suffered another senior managerial defection with acting chief financial officer Matt Pearson jumping ship.
His departure follows that of chief executive Dave Forsey who left last month after months of criticism of the company’s working practices from politicians, media and even its own shareholders.
Sports Direct has been without a permanent finance director since December 2013 when Bob Mellors stepped down after almost ten years in the job.
Pearson was given the job of acting CFO just over a year ago.
He will stay with the company until the end of the year before taking up a new post outside of the company.
His replacement will be Herbert Monteith, a long–standing member of the finance team, who will become Interim Head of Finance, a non-board position.
Sports Direct recently cuts its profit expectations of £300mln for this year to April by a further £15mln due to a currency loss following the flash crash that wiped 6% off the value of the pound last week.
Forsey has been replaced as CEO by Sports Direct’s founder and majority shareholder Mike Ashley who also owns Newcastle United FC.
