Legend Mining Ltd gets new assays and plans new 80 hole program

Legend Mining Ltd (ASX:LEG) will soon commence a new 80 hole, 5,000 metre drill program at its Rockford Project located in the Fraser Range district of Western Australia.

Legend is now two months into its electromagnetic and aircore drilling programs which are identifying targets for future reverse circulation and diamond drilling.

Two diamond holes have assayed grades measuring up to 1.50% copper and 1.78% nickel.

The new 5,000 metre aircore program will commence in circa two weeks.

Mark Wilson, managing director, commented: “The positive assay and petrology results from the first two diamond drill holes have confirmed the presence of anomalous nickel-copper mineralisation within the right host rocks for a Nova-Bollinger style deposit and have considerably enhanced the prospectivity of the entire Rockford Project.”

Rockford

Rockford covers 2,939 square kilometres and comprises eight contiguous granted exploration licences, with a large portion of the project subject of a joint venture between Legend (70%) and the Creasy Group (30%).

Legend is the operator and manager of the joint venture.

The primary target is Nova style nickel-copper mineralisation hosted in high grade mafic granulites within the Fraser Complex.

A secondary target is Tropicana style structurally controlled gold mineralisation.

The project is 120 kilometres north-east of Nova, and 100 kilometres south of Tropicana.

Moving loop electromagnetic (MLTEM) survey

Eight areas (Areas G to N) have been selected for MLTEM surveying, based on detailed aeromagnetic/gravity data and from recently gained knowledge from diamond drilling at Area D.

To date, three of eight targets have been tested and the survey is ongoing.

The encouraging results from Area D including; sulphides in cumulate gabbro and sulphide bearing country rocks, validate the process of target selection.

Legend has also completed a 2,423 station infill gravity survey over the eastern portion of Rockford, which has greatly assisted target selection and prioritisation.

Aircore drill program

An aircore drilling program comprising 80 holes for an estimated 5,000 metres is planned to commence during the week starting 17 October.

Drilling will also follow up on the two moderate conductive corridors at Area K and several broad conductive features at Area H.
