Following not so hot on the heels of the clip-on bow tie, PVH Corp (NYSE:PVH) has introduced the button-less dress shirt.
The owner of the Van Heusen shirt brand said the shirts, which use magnetic clasps, will be on sale in major retailers later this year. For those who are more skilled with mouse buttons than shirt buttons, the shirts will also be available online via Amazon.com.
Decorative buttons adorn the shirt where functioning buttons would ordinarily appear, PHV said. The dress shirts are wrinkle free, stain resistant and designed with barrel cuffs, but will probably attain the same level of coolness – i.e. negative coolness – as clip-on bow ties, though an over-excited David Sirkin, president of The Dress Furnishings Group at PVH reckons the range will be a “game-changing product”.
The shirts offer “a stylish, high quality solution for consumers with limited dexterity or those seeking an alternative to buttons,” Sirkin reckons.
