Hydrogen fuel and storage group ITM Power plc (LON:ITM) has upgraded the capacity at its hydrogen refuelling station on the M1 near Rotherham.
Through the upgrade, the original 350 bar dispenser has been upgraded to a system capable of dispensing hydrogen at both 700 and 350 bar.
This has increased the range of vehicles it can supply and will enable fuel cell powered electric vehicles such as the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai ix35 achieve their full driving range of over 300 miles.
The upgrade was funded through the UK government’s £2.89m refuelling station infrastructure grants scheme.
The Rotherham station uses an electrolyser supplied by ITM to generate hydrogen from an on-site wind turbine.
