Arafura Resources Ltd (ASX:ARU) has attained Major Project Facilitation (MPF) status with the Australian Government for its Nolans Rare Earths Project in the Northern Territory.
The MPF status will provide Nolans with tailored facilitation services to support a timely and efficient approval process.
This will include the coordination of all relevant Australian and Northern Territory government processes so that they occur, as far as practicable, simultaneously and without delay.
The Nolans Project joins 17 other significant development projects across Australia, including Shell’s Prelude FLNG Project, as the current recipients of MPF services.
The Nolans Project is expected to produce 14,000 tonnes per annum of total rare earth oxides (TREO) equivalent, over 20+ years mine life.
Importantly, the resource sits on the surface and remains open at depth, which makes it amenable to open cut mining at a low estimated cost of US$8.89 per kilogram of rare earth oxide.
The project has a total resource of 56 million tonnes containing 1.46 million tonnes TREO grading 2.6% TREO, 12% phosphate and 0.42% uranium.
