Investors will be interested to know how the market for sugar substitute stevia is progressing when PureCircle Limited (LON:PURE) reports final results on Tuesday.
Analysts expect PureCircle to update on growth in demand for sweetener derived from the leaf, which is used in soft drinks such as Coke Life and a range of foodstuffs.
Only a relatively small amount of stevia sweetener is needed to achieve the same effect as sugar, making it a healthier alternative.
Broker Numis Securities noted that stevia has now been approved for use in India and Brazil.
Numis said there will also be interest in how the company is recovering from a slowdown in second-half sales following delays in customer product launches and customs issues in the US.
Analyst Charles Pick said: “Clarification is needed on how much these issues impacted H2 FY 15/16 sales and what ‘retrieval factor’ there may be this full year.”
But he added: “A year ago, management stressed how use of high-purity stevia was considered to be at a definite tipping point and this is the key issue; It has now become mainstream.
"PureCircle remains the premier producer."
Also on Tuesday, B&Q and Castorama owner Kingfisher plc (LON:KGF) posts half-year results.
Analysts expect the company to report underlying first-half pre-tax profit of £430mln before £30mln of restructuring costs.
The shares have outperformed the sector by 15% in the last 12 months, mainly because of the weakness in sterling, with international profit being 58% of the total.
