ValiRx’s lead compound continues to perform well

“Studies continue to show preliminary indications of VAL201 positively effecting subjects' disease profile”

Life sciences group ValiRx Plc (LON:VAL) has told investors that its lead compound VAL201 continues to perform well in the Phase I/II clinical trial it is currently undergoing.

The company confirmed back in June that VAL201 – a potential treatment for prostate cancer – was well tolerated and had shown a high degree of safety.

In an update today, ValiRx said the treatment “continues to show no drug related significant adverse events and all subjects have tolerated the compound well…up to now”.

The London-based firm added that the studies so far have shown VAL201 to have a positive effect on the subjects’ disease profile.

ValiRx has integrated additional clinical trial centres to help with the dose expansion stage of the trial.

It is also working on the follow-up trial protocols for VAL201 and expects these to be completed by the time the current trials end.

The company also told investors that it is continuing to design a separate trial for VAL201 to test it as a treatment for endometriosis and other endometrial conditions.

ValiRx’s lung cancer treatment VAL401 has also enjoyed an “important quarter” in terms of its development.

The oral treatment has recently been granted a patent allowance in New Zealand, and the doses of the VAL401 capsules have arrived on site at the Medulla Immunotherapy and Chemotherapy Clinic in Georgia.

ValiRx said the principle investigator will now be able to begin identifying, screening and recruiting potential subjects for the trials.

Shares were up 0.25p, or 4%, to 7p.
