Westminster's Sierra Princess makes maiden voyage

The event was on September 9 at the firm's Kissy terminal in Sierra Leone.

Press and dignitaries attended on Friday when Westminster Group PLC's (LON:WSG) 70 seater ferry 'Sierra Princess' successfully made her first voyage.

The event was on September 9 at the firm's Kissy terminal in Sierra Leone and was witnessed also by the Sierra Leone minister of transport and aviation and various senior government figures.

The ferry can travel at over 20 knots from twin 400hp inboard engines and will be joining the group's other flagship vessel, the Sierra Queen, to provide an efficient service between the Tagrin, Kissy and Government Wharf terminals either side of the Sierra Leone river estuary.

The service should have no shortage of users as it will provide a professional airport transfer service between the airport and the Capital Freetown, with crossing times of just 20 minutes but will also provide an efficient ferry service around the capital and further afield, the group said.

Services are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Shares in Westminster added 2.83% to stand at 27.25p on the day.
