A batch of raw concentrate is now ready to be shipped to the Ekaterinburg non-ferrous metals processing plant in line with the refining contract signed in July.

Graphite is a relatively new addition to the investment portfolio of Armadale Capital PLC (LON:ACP), but already it’s becoming central.

Almost immediately after it acquired the Mahenge Liandu project in June the company set to work on the ground on the ground in Tanzania. There was an electromagnetic survey, followed up by some geologic mapping, and both delivered encouraging results.

Harvest Minerals Ltd (LON:HMI) has been given the environmental green-light for its proposed mining operation at the Arapuá phosphate fertiliser project in Brazil.

In a stock market statement the company told investors that its Brazilian subsidiary has been granted the State Autorização Ambiental de Funcionamento (AAF) environmental licence for the project.

Investors in Sirius Minerals PLC (AIM: SXX, OTCQX: SRUXY) can stop holding their breath.

The window for all appeals against the company’s giant fertiliser mine has slammed shut.

It follows the closure of the judicial review period for the mine’s proposed harbour facility on Teesside.

Sirius Minerals PLC (LON:SXX) is a compelling candidate for ‘responsible investment’, according to Shore Capital analyst Yuen Low, who says the group’s UK mining project has best in class characteristics and ticks all environmental, social and governance boxes.

In an 18 page note, Low highlights that the sustainability credentials of Sirius’s North Yorkshire Polyhalite project often go underemphasised.

High grade has been the highlight of the recent drilling campaign undertaken by Landore Resources Limited (LON:LND) at its BAM East gold project on the company’s wider and extensively mienralised Junior Lake property.

In particular, one drill hole hit 53.5 metres at 1.38 grams per tonne gold, including 9 metres at 4.74 grams and one metre at just over 30 grams.

Bezant Resources plc (LON:BZT) shares skyrocketed on Wednesday as it struck a development deal for its near surface platinum and gold assets in Colombia, which could see initial recovery of the two metals in 2017.

Experienced Colombian contractor Exumax has been engaged for a planned 24-month exploration and development programme in the Choco region.

Some operational adjustments have been required at the RHA tungsten project in Zimbabwe, owned by Premier African Minerals Limited (LON:PREM). Of that chief executive George Roach makes no bones when he talks of a “protracted optimisation period.”

But the issues arising from the requirement that sorting screen sizes be adjusted upwards will be resolved imminently.

One of the satellite deposits surrounding its New Luika mine in Tanzania has seen a substantial increase in gold resources, miner Shanta Gold Limited (LON:SHG) reported.

Underground exploration has increased indicated resources at the Ilunga deposit by 409% to 205,000 oz, while the total overall rises 336% to 258,000 oz.

Richland Resources Limited (LON:RLD) generated sales of US$640,000 in the first half of the year to June 30 from sapphire mining in Queensland.

The company’s Capricorn mine is still ramping up production but is expected to produce at a rate of 800,000 carats from the current quarter onwards, with a short-term spike to over 1.2 mln carats per quarter during 2017.

Landore Resources Ltd (LON:LND) continues to be excited by the findings at its Bam East gold prospect at the Junior Lake project in Ontario, where wide zones of gold, including high grades, have been uncovered.

The summer drill programme is now complete and the firm said mineralisation, close to surface, has the potential to be developed as a low cost, bulk tonnage, open pit operation.

Nickel mine developer Amur Minerals Corporation (LON:AMC) has signed an outline deal that could see it working closely with IG Copper (IGC).

Specifically, the pair is looking at “synergies” in processing the companies' respective sulphide concentrates.

In mining, the old phrase has it that grade is king. Berkeley Energia Limited (LON:BKY) is certainly living and dying by that maxim as it continues to move the Salamanca uranium project in Spain closer to a development decision, following on from a definitive feasibility study that was completed in July.

In a show of faith, one of Miton Group PLC’s (LON:MGR) funds has ploughed more money into Brazil-focused potash explorer Harvest Minerals PLC (LON:HMI).

Botswana chairman and mining veteran John Teeling said the firm was funded for the work starting at the end of this month.

Wishbone Gold PLC (LON:WSBN), which moved into precious metal trading through its purchase of Precious Metals International (PMI) in February, said it had now signed supply agreements with companies in Peru, Ghana, Chile and Colombia.

It came as the firm posted results for the six months to end June.

Metals Exploration Plc (LON:MTL) has raised an additional US$6.4mln from shareholders and expects to conclude its debt restructuring negotiations later this month.

Galileo Resources PLC (LON:GLR) will hunt for near-surface copper at the Homeep target at its Concordia project, starting next month, after modelling suggested high grades at the prospect.

Galantas Gold Corporation’s (LON:GAL CVE:GAL) recent drilling at its Cavanacaw mine in Northern Ireland has unearthed a gold vein stringer to the south of the existing pit.

Surface samples for the stringer, lines of thin mineralisation embedded in rock, in the western part of the Kearney vein system returned very high grades of gold and silver.

Greatland Gold plc (LON:GGP) is now on site at its Ernest Giles gold project in Western Australia preparing drill locations and expects drilling to begin within four weeks.

The work programme has been approved, and as previously reported, includes 6,000 meters of wide-spaced RC (reverse circulation) drilling targeting gold, arsenic and antimony anomalies identified by soil sampling and previous drilling.

Metminco Ltd (LON:MNC) executive director Stephen Tainton has stepped down from the board to concentrate on the Los Calatos project.
