Strike Energy (ASX: STX) is preparing to carry out a nine stage fracture stimulation at its Wolters-1H horizontal well targeting the Lower Eagle Ford Shale in Texas.
This will test the ability of the shale to produce oil and gas in this area.
While the company had originally planned to carry out a 22 stage frac, completion tools were stuck while preparing the second stage.
After recovering most of the coiled tubing, the operator recommended that the bottom portion of the hole be sealed off and that a nine stage frac of the shortened lateral would provide a valid test of the productivity of the Lower Eagle Ford formation in this area.
Wells to the south have produced between 1,113 barrels of oil equivalent to 1,878boe per day.
