St George Mining's (ASX:SGQ) hi-impact drilling program at the wholly-owned East Laverton Project in Western Australia is continuing at speed.
The company will therefore have strong news flow from several prospects over the next couple of months.
The first of six reverse circulation holes are now underway at the Desert Dragon Central prospect, where the first holes will target the Dragon 6 and Dragon 8 conductors located in a prominent tight fold of the ultramafic belt.
Four additional drill holes will target three downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) conductors and prospective geological positions.
John Prineas, executive chairman, commented:
“The EM conductors at Desert Dragon Central have electrical signatures consistent with massive sulphides and, importantly, are located in favourable geological positions.
“These are all very attractive targets and any one of these could deliver exploration success. We have a very exciting 2 to 3 weeks of drilling ahead of us.”
Conductors at Desert Dragon Central
St George said that Dragon 6 has a conductance of 3,300 Siemens and a late time decay of 148ms. The modelling of the EM plate indicates a strike length of 300 metres, and a moderate westerly dip.
Dragon 8 has a conductance of 1,900 Siemens and a late time decay of 188ms. The EM plate strikes eastwest and has a moderate to steep dip to the south. Dragon 8 has a strike length of 900 metres.
Drilling program
At Windsor North, drilling has been completed with multiple ultramafic units intersected.
Following the current drilling at Desert Dragon Central, the drill rig will mobilise to Desert Dragon North to drill EM targets.
Analysis
Desert Dragon Central appears to be a highly prospective setting for a massive nickel sulphide deposit, and the current program of an additional six reverse circulation holes will provide additional details.
The program will also deliver geological information 150 metres south of the DRAC35 discovery section, which included: 18 metres at 0.40% nickel from 100 metres, including 4 metres at 0.57% nickel. This hole was drilled by BHP Billiton Nickel West in 2012.
Recent diamond drilling from the prospect also revealed multiple occurrences of nickel sulphide mineralisation.
