St George Mining identifies strong offhole conductor

St George Mining's (ASX:SGQ) highly prospective exploration program just identified a strong offhole conductor at the Desert Dragon North prospect.

Desert Dragon North is part of broader drilling program by the company being conducted at its wholly-owned East Laverton Nickel Sulphide Project in Western Australia.

The conductor has identified from a Downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey of hole DDNDD0001.

The hole was drilled to test beneath the massive nickel sulphide stringer veins at Desert Dragon North which included; 2 metres at 1.08% nickel from 55 metres in hole DDNRC002; which are interpreted to be from a larger massive nickel sulphide body.

Adding interest geological modelling is consistent with this new EM conductor being the possible source for the massive nickel sulphide stringer veins at Desert Dragon North.

John Prineas, executive chairman, commented:

“The results of the downhole EM survey are very exciting as they are an excellent fit with our geological interpretation for the massive nickel sulphides already identified at Desert Dragon North.

“The model predicts that the primary source of the nickel sulphide mineralisation is probably within a few hundred metres of the nickel sulphide stringer veins that we intersected in DDNRC002.

“The new EM conductor is shaping up as a very high priority target for massive nickel sulphides.”

Further evaluation of DDNDD0001 will be completed ahead of drill testing the conductor.

DDNRC002 details

The massive nickel sulphide stringers intersected in DDNRC002 are interpreted to be part of a mineralised fragment of ultramafic that has been mechanically dislocated from a larger ultramafic body that is hosting massive nickel sulphides.

This model is strongly supported by litho‐geochemical analysis that identified the presence of a high Iridium/Palladium ratio, which is characteristic of primary and not remobilised nickel mineralisation.
