St George Mining readies to test highest rated targets at East Laverton

Once drilling wraps up at Desert Dragon North, St George can then move to the high quality drill targets remaining at Desert Dragon Central. The company has outlined that these targets have the potential to host high grade mineralisation.

St George Mining (ASX:SGQ) is currently drilling highly prospective massive nickel sulphide targets at its wholly-owned East Laverton Nickel Sulphide Project in Western Australia.

Hole APHDD0001 has been completed at the Aphrodite nickel sulphide prospect with detailed geological logging of the drill hole ongoing.

St George said initial interpretation indicates the geology intersected is favourable for mineralisation.

Next for the company is drilling has commenced at the Desert Dragon North nickel sulphide prospect.

At the prospect massive nickel sulphide stringer veins such as; 2 metres at 1.08% nickel from 55 metres; are interpreted to be from a larger massive nickel sulphide body at depth.

John Prineas, executive chairman, commented: "Desert Dragon North is one of our best nickel sulphide prospects given that we have already encountered some massive nickel sulphides there."

Desert Dragon Central has high quality targets

Once drilling wraps up at Desert Dragon North, St George can then move to the high quality drill targets remaining at Desert Dragon Central.

The company has outlined that these targets have the potential to host high grade mineralisation.

Prineas added, “Our drilling campaign is now entering its most exciting phase with our highest rated targets about to be tested.”

Desert Dragon Central

Its VMS potential was previously highlighted through the results of the 2012 reconnaissance drilling completed by BHP Billiton Nickel West as part of the previous Project Dragon farm-in arrangement.

With the prospective ultramafic channel at Desert Dragon Central thickening to the east of previous drill hole DDRDD0003, new targets east of the recently completed holes are expected to be more prospective for massive nickel sulphides.

This adds importance to the drill holes planned to test underneath the thick interval of disseminated nickel sulphides at DRAC35 and to test the Dragon 9 EM conductor.

Analysis

Assays will be reported in the coming weeks with potential for significant intersections of mineralisation to be prioritised for faster processing.

Currently drilling is being conducted at Desert Dragon North, and once finished, will move to Desert Dragon Central.

The company has outlined that Desert Dragon Central targets have the potential to host high grade mineralisation.

Early results from drilling at Desert Dragon Central have demonstrated the VMS potential of the area.
