Western Australia based St George Mining's (ASX: SGQ) drilling results from the 2012 program at the wholly-owned Cambridge Nickel Prospect at the company’s East Laverton Property have now been analysed.
Laboratory assays confirm extensive intervals of ultramafic in CAMRC-001 and CAMRC-002 with high MgO values, with the assays supporting geological interpretation of the significant potential for nickel sulphide mineralisation to be present at depth.
Strong intersections of nickel enrichment encountered in both holes, including:
- CAMRC-001: 160 metres at 0.25% nickel from 8 metres, including 61 metres at 0.35% nickel and 2 metres at 0.84% nickel; and
- CAMRC-002: 150 metres at 0.22% nickel from surface, including 18 metres at 0.33% nickel and 1 metre at 0.55% nickel.
St George said that the nickel intersected within the first 100 metres from surface is likely to represent varying degrees of secondary enrichment, which is dependent on the extent of the weathered zone.
