Rimfire Pacific Mining (ASX:RIM) continues to log high grade gold and silver results from drilling within the Sorpresa gold and silver mineralised system at Fifield in central New South Wales.
The shallow oxide zone was the target and it did not disappoint with a 15 metre intercept at 3.91g/t gold & 223g/t silver which included a corker 1 metre grading 40.40g/t gold and 1 metre at 1200g/t silver at Roadside prospect.
Which is good news as the company looks to focus efforts on increasing the gold resource that is suited to shallow open-cut mining, emerging from recent work for high grade extensions.
The current Sorpresa deposit comprises 250,000 ounces of gold equivalent as an Inferred and Indicated Mineral Resource.
Today's result follow the recent impressive 9 metres at 18.15g/t gold & 100g/t silver intercept at Sorpresa from RC drilling.
Apart from resource definition, Rimfire is looking toward new discoveries and progressing the economic potential in parallel with the regional discovery advancement within a 6 kilometre radius of Sorpresa.
The significant proportion of high grade results would provide further encouragement for economic feasibility assessment.
The company believes that potential upside exists at Sorpresa by defining additional resources in under explored areas along strike to the south and at depth, down dip to the east and also in gap areas between mineralised domains.
Finding more high grade gold and silver will advance the Sorpresa resource into a mining operation and positive results from metallurgy test work indicate the potential for more than one processing option for oxide and sulphide samples tested.
Promisingly, Sorpresa appears likely to be part of a much bigger regional system at work.
While not there yet, further discoveries within a 6 kilometre radius of Sorpresa will take Rimfire on the path toward its multi-million ounce gold equivalent objective.
