Rimfire Pacific Mining (ASX:RIM) should trade higher after some further gold exploration results from the emerging Boundary Gate East target within the Sorpresa project in New South Wales.
Better results included 9 metres at 1.23 grams per tonne gold and 0.43% zinc from 187 metres, and 1 metre at 21 grams per tonne gold, 46.8 grams per tonne silver, 0.46% zinc and 2.34% lead from 166 metres.
The 9 metre intersection also displayed visible gold.
There are now five significant intersections across an approximate 100 metres of strike at the Boundary Gate East project and it remains open in every direction, including up-dip.
Drilling followed a previously reported bonanza grade gold intersection of 1 metre at 114 grams per tonne from 159 metres.
Notably, mineralisation is contained within a new stratigraphic position and in different host geology than previously seen at Sorpresa, indicating potential for stacked lenses of gold mineralisation.
In addition, reprocessed ground gravity and induced polarisation surveys have provided additional drilling targets within the immediate and wider Sorpresa areas.
The highest gold grades appear to correlate with semi-massive sulphides of up to 10%, and coupled with fine grained disseminated pyrite alteration, allude to a relationship with an undrilled, 850 by 320 metre chargeability anomaly to the south.
Rotary air blast and auger drilling programs are continuing, along with the growing regional discovery work at Sorpresa.
Boundary Gate East is located 600 metres south of the Roadside silver-gold prospect, and 350 metres east of the main Sorpresa Trend.
The exploration to date, while early days, appears to confirm an extension of high grade gold mineralization at Boundary Gate East and that the larger Sorpresa system contains significant potential.
Rimfire is capitalised at around $19 million.
