Rimfire Pacific Mining (ASX: RIM) has completed the drilling campaign targeting gold mineralisation at the Sorpresa Gold Project in New South Wales, and expects key results within four weeks.
The company is continuing to process drill cuttings and submit samples for assay after drilling 40 reverse circulation (RC) holes and three aircore holes covering 2,656 metres to depths of 85 metres.
The drilling tested gold mineralisation below previously established gold zones through bedrock testing at four project areas with a key focus on examining a high grade gold trench.
Other key objectives from drilling were to establish whether the presence of silver is a significant component within parts of Sorpresa, to provide greater geological context at the project and to view the larger gold potential around the project area from pending results.
Four drill holes tested bedrock geology under or adjacent to the Platina lead located 1.5 kilometres southeast of the trenching area on the company’s freehold property.
Colin Plumridge, head of exploration, said “the indications are definitely positive to date that this RC drill program will provide a significant window on the gold potential at Sorpresa.”
The RC drill program is an integral component of the company's ongoing exploration at Sorpresa that has already used intensive surface sampling, shallow auger drilling into bedrock and a detailed gravity survey.
