RNI drills targets paralleling a copper-gold heavyweight

RNI NL (ASX:RNI) has set itself up for increased near-term newsflow with the restart of drilling at copper-gold properties in Western Australia that have defined stratigraphic and alteration characteristics typical of volcanic hosted massive sulphide (VHMS) deposits similar to Sandfire Resources’ (ASX:SFR) operating DeGrussa copper-gold mine.

Resources at DeGrussa have been estimated at 781,000 ounces of gold and 667,000 tonnes of copper.

The next phase of work at the company’s Forrest and Morck’s Well projects will include a 205-hole aircore drilling program.

Drilling will focus on Forrest’s Tempest targets, the Forrest-Wodger VHMS trend and the Big Red target at Morck’s Well.

RNI is awaiting initial assay results from the first phase of its 24,000-metre drilling program in WA’s Bryah Basin, which involved reverse circulation and aircore drilling at both Morck’s Well and the Doolgunna project – only 2.5 kilometres from DeGrussa.

The company’s portfolio in the region totals 1,259 square kilometres of copper-gold exploration areas, all well-defined and considered prospective for VHMS discoveries.

Each project is supported by extensive geological data sets covering more than two decades of exploration activity.
