Peninsula Energy submits milestone mining application for Ross uranium project

Peninsula Energy (ASX: PEN) has achieved a second regulatory milestone for the Ross uranium project with the submission for a permit to mine.

The submission was made to the Land Quality Division of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ/LQD).

With Peninsula targeting uranium mining at the Ross project in 2012, Peninsula has requested authorization from the State of Wyoming to construct and operate an in-situ uranium recovery (ISR) facility near Oshoto.

The two key regulatory permits required for the development and commencement of production at the proposed Ross ISR Project are the Permit to Mine application, along with the recently submitted Combined Source and 11e.(2) Byproduct Material License application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The proposed facility would consist of wellfields, pipelines and a central plant to process extracted uranium into yellowcake for commercial use in nuclear power plants.
