Patrys (ASX: PAB) has received convincing evidence that its multiple myeloma – bone marrow cancer - drug PAT-SM6, is active in patients with end-stage disease who are resistant to other marketed therapies.
The result is encouraging for the company as it recruits patients for the fourth and final stage of the clinical trial, which had recently received the green light to proceed from the Department of Haematology and Oncology, University Hospital of Würzburg in Germany – the independent board monitoring the trial.
Two of the six patients involved in the second and third cohorts of the clinical trial experienced stable disease post treatment with PAT-SM6.
It also appears to prolong the time to the next therapy. Notably, one of the patients who showed evidence of stable disease after treatment has not gone on to receive any other treatment.
In addition, of the five patients who went on to receive additional chemotherapy, two responded very positively to drugs that they had previously been resistant to.
No serious adverse events have been reported with all six patients tolerating PAT-SM6 well.
